View Vacancy - NCA Local Liaison Assistant, Malta (MLT21.126)

The British High Commission (BHC) in Malta is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a National Crime Agency (NCA) Local Liaison Assistant.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) Local Liaison Assistant role provides general and administrative support to the NCA International Liaison Officer (ILO). The job-holder will work closely with the NCA ILO and colleagues from across the British High Commission in support of crime and justice cooperation between the UK and Malta.
Main responsibilities and tasks:
- Manage significant budgets maintaining precise records on PRISM and NCA records.
- Provide administrative support to the NCA International Liaison Officer.
- Complete corporate records in a timely and accurate manner
- Organise events such as meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences and receptions;
- Develop skills and understanding of the maintenance and research of analytical data and produce reports as needed.
- Work with High Commission stakeholders in support of wider Crime and Justice Objectives.
- Through a clear understanding of budgetary processes, be able to manage NCA budgeting processes including cross charging and PRISM accounting processes.
- Organise travel and accommodation a for NCA staff, and official visitors
- Maintenance of an ILO diary and contacts database.
- Keep office inventories up to date, including the timely submission of returns to NCA London.
- Liaison with other NCA offices and other law enforcement partners in person and in writing, collating information and preparing reports.
- Searching open source material, keeping abreast of news and media relating to NCA business.
- Arranging and attending conferences, meetings, workshops and representing the NCA at such events as appropriate.
- Performing ad-hoc duties such a managing other corporate duties as is commensurate to the role.
- A self-starter able to work effectively either independently or as part of a team
- Ability to plan ahead and prioritise effectively
- Excellent IT skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Experience of budget management including monitoring spend and processing invoices
- Ability to produce clear and accurate work with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Fluency in English (both oral and written, minimum C1 level*)
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems
- Meet the requirements to obtain UK (SC) Security Clearance
- Previous experience in a Law Enforcement, Government or Embassy employment would be beneficial.
- Maltese speaker (although not essential for this role).
This is a full-time of 35 hours/week, 12 months renewable contract.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.

Staff recruited locally by the British High Commission in Malta are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Maltese employment law.
Visa/Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Malta and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance.
