As a Dialogue Partner of ASEAN, the UK’s engagement with the bloc continues to increase. The UK Mission to ASEAN is looking for a suitably qualified and professional Policy Assistant. The job holder will be part of two teams within the UK Mission to ASEAN, namely the Political-Security and Socio-Cultural teams. Primarily, the job holder will facilitate the work of both teams, including with budget management and forecasting, travel and meeting arrangements, engagements with external partners, logistical arrangements for key meetings, visits of ministers and senior officials. The job holder will be expected to develop responsibility for policy areas within the ASEAN-UK Plan of Action so there will be opportunities to develop policy skills, support and deputise for colleagues when required and to write reports and analyses. The job holder will also be required to work closely with the Ambassador’s PA. The successful candidate will be required to handle a broad range of tasks, have a flexible attitude and be able to work with a significant autonomy. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
