We’re looking for a Communications Assistant who will be responsible mainly for providing administrative support to the team; including payments, marketing assets, etc. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to focus on data analysis/research, as well as supporting the team with comms activities, including both traditional and social media on a daily basis.

Communications activity is at the heart of achievement of BE Warsaw, and UK, objectives in Poland. The Russian invasion in Ukraine context provides an opportunity to cooperate closely, strengthen the UK’s relationship with Poland with an enhanced focus on humanitarian, and military support for Ukraine.

Additionally, the Comms team in Warsaw is aiming at growing our reach, including beyond Warsaw and with youth through increased soft content.

The role of the team is to communicate FCDO’s key messages, as well as engage with numerous audiences within Poland. There will also be opportunities to take on broader responsibilities should the candidate wish.

 

What will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

  • Administrative support to the team, including financial reporting, invoices;
  • Regular review of the Embassy subscriptions and liaising with suppliers;
  • Updating the content of gov.uk website;
  • Updating the bilateral script of the Embassy;
  • Liaising with the Consular Section on consular queries received via social media channels;
  • Data analysis/research – through online research of existing insight products (polling, surveys), build the team’s understanding of our audiences: what interests them? What are their opinions on the UK or the things we care about?;
  • Managing marketing assets of the Embassy;
  • Supporting comms around events and visits;
  • Monitoring media coverage on specific issues, translations;
  • Reporting on Polish response to the UK/international developments;
  • Supporting the Embassy’s social media content – research, proofreading, soft diplomacy content ideas.
  • Fluency in Polish and English (both oral and written, minimum C1 level*);
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Determined, self-sufficient, enterprising and results-oriented individual;
  • Previous Communications experience;
  • Previous research experience;
  • Experience and/or knowledge of media monitoring;
  • Willingness to learn about and harness digital tools.
  • Experience of managing administrative work of the team;
  • Experience of online research and audience analysis or an interest to learn;
  • An interest in both traditional and social media (including picture taking and video-making).

This is a full-time fixed-term position of 5 days (37.5 net per week) for 24 months (3 months probation + 21 months contract) with the possibility of extension for indefinitive period.

 

The gross salary for this position is PLN 7.350 gross per month. Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year.

 

Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law.

 

The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish references check and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.

 

Candidates must have pre-existing right to live and work in Poland for the duration of the job offer in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.

 

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Warsaw are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to Polish employment law.

 

Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Poland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Working patterns: The British Embassy Warsaw has a strong commitment to work/life balance. Office hours are 8:30 – 16:30, staff are encouraged to leave on time. Flexi-hours are also possible within the Embassy building’s opening hours (0800-1800). We have mobile technology and offer hybrid working with remote working days to be agreed with line managers.
