The British Embassy in Luxembourg is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is currently looking to recruit a full-time Political, Press and Events Support Officer.


    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Press & Political: review Luxembourg’s digital, print and radio media daily. Produce daily press summaries for the Ambassador and Head of Press/Political flagging key stories of interest to them. Support the Head of Press/Political in maintaining contacts with local media and building Embassy digital content (e.g. Facebook).  Produce fortnightly summary of Luxembourgish political developments;  attend and report on external meetings and events throughout Luxembourg; build contacts with local political figures to support outreach by the Ambassador, DHM and Head of Press/Political (80% of time)
    • Events & Visits: Coordinate two annual Embassy higher education events.  Support other Embassy staff with preparation and management of events and high-level visits, including through responsibilities such as issuing and tracking invitations, recording spend, booking flights and hotels, and helping with running the events on the day. (15% of time)

    • Corporate support: The job-holder will assume a corporate role to help ensure the smooth running of Embassy functions. As Information Management Officer, they will coordinate Embassy’s annual Information Management return and lead on wider e-filing requirements.  They may be required to take on further roles in line with business need. (5% of time)

       

    • A good understanding of Luxembourg’s domestic politics
    • Strong familiarity with use of digital media and standard Microsoft Office tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • organisational skills, structured work style
    • Fluent language skills (both written and spoken) in English, Luxembourgish, German and French 
    • Experience in event and visit management

    This is a full-time position, with a permanent contract.

    The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.

    Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Luxembourg are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Luxembourgish employment law.
