The United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations in Geneva represents British interests in a range of international organisations dealing with human rights, economic, migration, health and disarmament issues in Geneva. We work to ensure that the UK’s views and opinions are taken on board by UN bodies and other member states.

We are seeking a motivated Multilateral Appointments and Elections Officer. The main purpose of the job is to increase the level and influence of UK representation in the UN and a broader range of international organisations including where appropriate non-British nationals into positions of UK interest. The job holder will also help develop and encourage individuals to consider careers in international organisations and build up a diverse, talent pipeline of future influencers for UK plc.

 

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain a network of multilateral institution HR contacts to help anticipate trends and opportunities;
  • Identify jobs of potential interest and importance to the UK to deliver its Global Britain agenda. (Range covered from P grade to Senior Appointments);
  • Provide analysis and regular reporting of the “job market”;
  • Assist with lobbying and associated specific election campaign tasks;
  • Provide proportionate support to HMG supported candidates.

  • Understanding of the UN system and experience of working in a multilateral environment;

This is a full-time position for a fixed term contract, initially until 31st March 2018, with possibility of renewal.

The successful applicant may be able to start sooner than the advertised start date, if available.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and a probation period.

The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorization for Switzerland in order to apply.
