The British Embassy in Azerbaijan is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a  Security Guard, based in Baku.

Applications: British Embassy in Baku may apply a gender-specific (female) hiring preference to fill in this role in order to meet security mission and same gender pat-down job-related requirements.

The jobholder will ensure:

  • Reduce risks to UK interests overseas through safeguarding of Embassy premises;
  • Prevention of incidents in accordance with security level;
  • Daily implementation of all required security tasks as disseminated in duties of security.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • A mandatory requirement of having a female security guard for checking female visitors to the Embassy at all times;
  • To provide layered security defences in regards to access control by Embassy staff and visitors alike to ensure the Embassy’s security integrity is maintained at all times; 
  • To provide escorts as and when required for events within the Residence in protection of HMA;
  • Administer all physical security aspects including enhancement projects, monitor and maintain security equipment. Oversee the Health & Safety, Environment and Fire operation and equipment;
  • Constantly examine and review all security regulations, operational procedures, techniques and requirements. Ensure that all emergency drills are carried out frequently, that staff and families are thoroughly briefed on security awareness and updated on security issues and measures. Assist in the planning and briefing for VIP visits, the PEPs and the Missions social events;
  • Assessing the threat and formulate procedures to counter any possible terrorist attacks, criminal activity or demonstrations;
  • Carry out duties as detailed by the Regional Overseas Security Manager;
  • Supervising contractors as and when required;
  • Security patrols and monitoring the CCTV and alarm systems;
  • Handling UK Nationals in difficulty in accordance with procedures.
  • Minimum High School Diploma level;
  • Good level of English and Azerbaijani (both oral and written);
  • Previous experience in a related field and/or Customer Service;
  • Experience of working with international community;
  • Good knowledge of access control and dealing with large events;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
  • Ability to follow instructions quickly and accurately;
  • Must have a good knowledge of IT systems and able to use Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Able to write reports efficiently and on time;
  • Able to work out of hours on occasion when required;
  • Able to think innovatively and prepared to make decisions and stick by them.
  • Background in security work and/or receptionist is preferable;
  • Customer service skills would add value;

  • Russian language is desirable.

This is a permanent full-time position, five working days, 40 hours net per week.

The salary is USD 901.68 gross per month and shall be paid in AZN monthly.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Azerbaijan is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service of the FCDO according to local labour legislation.
