View Vacancy - Maintenance Officer (LTU19.621)
The British Embassy in Vilnius is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Maintenance Officer.
The jobholder will work as part of the Corporate Services team at the Embassy. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance, associated driving duties, Health and Safety checks, and professional upkeep of the Embassy and maintenance duties in private residential buildings that form part of the Embassy estate.
The candidate will be expected to have a good working knowledge and experience of electrical, plumbing and decoration work and be a team player, also able to work on their own initiative.
Main responsibilities:
- Carry out the following routine maintenance tasks:
Repairs, re-painting, decorating, basic electrical and plumbing; furniture removal; meeting room set-up; maintaining office equipment; driving duties to procure items from local suppliers; clearing snow and leaves from compounds; some gardening and cleaning duties as allocated by the Estates Manager
- Health and Safety checks and procedures at the embassy compound and in residential properties.
- Work with existing Embassy systems (e.g.: maintain associated databases and spreadsheets, and implement work according to agreed standards and procedures);
- Provide wider assistance to the Embassy teams as needed (e.g.: assistance during events, driving duties);
- Responsible for leading on implementation of environmental initiatives.
- Experience as an estates officer or in building maintenance or a trade skill;
- Driving license with a clean record;
- Minimum Secondary education;
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with competing priorities;
- Good IT skills including the full Microsoft Office Suite
- Good English skills
- Minimum Lithuanian skills
- Proficiency in English
- Proficiency in Lithuanian
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
