View Vacancy - Political Intern (PRT19.623)
The British Embassy in Lisbon is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. Currently, the Political and Prosperity team is offering an internship of 3 months.
The Intern will support bilateral and multilateral work towards UK Climate Change priorities in 2020.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Stakeholder mapping - private, public and NGOs to build a network of key contacts for the run up to COP26 and the UN Ocean Summit.
Media Monitoring and reporting of Portuguese domestic policies on climate change and energy.
Support in the organisation of Embassy events and visit programmes.
Comms support to the Climate change/clean growth communications campaign on social media.
Assist with other ad hoc duties, such as performing research work on indicated topics.
Fluent in English and Portuguese (written and spoken);
Good communication skills, attention to detail;
Excellent time management and ability to perform to deadlines;
Proactivity, dynamism, self-initiative, and ability to work well in a team;
Degree (or working towards) in a relevant area of studies.
- Understanding of the UNFCCC process, climate change terminology and EU climate framework.
This is a full-time, 3 months internship contract (35 hours net per week), with a possibility of extension.
The successful candidate will be subject to a professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorisation for Portugal in order to apply.

Visa / Passport requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Portugal and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. Additional requirements may become necessary pending EU Exit. If requirements change additional eligibility information will be shared during the recruitment process.
