We are looking for an energetic Internal Communications Manager, who will manage the delivery of impactful and engaging internal communications and will be an integral team member of the Campaigns team.

The UK government has committed considerable additional resources to the China Network which has grown significantly in recent years.  With 5 posts across China and more than 700 staff, clear and well-organised internal communication is essential to ensure effective coordination across the posts. Furthermore, with a network of considerable size, it is important to ensure that staff understand the bigger picture beyond their day-to-day jobs and feel a sense of belonging and pride in the UK government’s work in China.

In this role, the job holder will be tasked with delivering a strategic approach to internal communications. The job holder will need to develop a sound understanding of the many internal communication channels available in order to communicate effectively around the China Network and with London. They will need to work closely with senior leadership to continue to imbed our staff values of Integrity, Vision, Passion, Empowerment and Innovation. They will work closely with important staff committees within the embassy to communicate the work they are doing, ensuring staff feel engaged and represented.

The job holder will work on implementing large-scale Network-wide internal communications campaigns as well as drafting/managing day-to-day internal communication needs for teams across UK government departments. Finally, there will also be opportunity to support the campaigns team in their wider work engaging and interacting with the public to promote the UK’s ‘soft power’ messages across China.

The successful candidate will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills. They will need to be imaginative and creative in identifying opportunities to improve internal communications across the Network. Good team working and interpersonal skills are also essential as the jobholder will have to work with teams and senior leadership across the Network to ensure that internal communications support all teams to achieve their objectives.
