The Department for International Trade is the international business development agency of the Government of the United Kingdom which works to foster transatlantic business relations between the US and the UK.  DIT USA works closely with our headquarters in London, with related agencies in the UK and with representatives of the English Regions and the UK’s Devolved Administrations in the US, to assist US companies looking to invest in the UK and British companies seeking opportunities in the US market.

We seek 5 interns to provide learning opportunities in sectors such as healthcare, biopharma, financial and business services, information and communications technology, and executive office management. These sectors involve companies doing business across the New England states of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

 

Duties and Responsabilities:

  • (Corporate strategy focus):  conduct market and company research to understand target company business model, product lines and growth stage, develop brief company profiles to help uncover synergies between firms for matching as potential business partners, investors and customers;
  • (Business development focus):  develop target lists of companies and best contacts within these companies depending on the product and/or service solution we are assessing local demand for;
  • (Marketing focus):  assist in developing and delivering visibility events for senior leadership of UK companies looking to expand into the US and US companies seeking growth opportunities in the UK.  These events may be speaking opportunities at regional conferences, leading roundtable discussions, participating in panels or conducting product demos. Interns may also assist in delivering networking events that bring together members of the British and American business and academic communities.

 



    Under US State requirements, the Embassy may only employ, as non-diplomatic staff, persons who are US citizens, US Green Card holders, A or J1 Visa holders with valid Work Authorization Documents. If you hold a Visa other than an A or J1 Visa you are not eligible to work at the Embassy. All candidates will be subject to background checks and security clearance.

    These are unpaid internships, for college credit only, but the Embassy does provide a stipend of $100 per month for transportation costs. This internship will start on 5 March 2018 and end on 1 June 2018.
