UKHO operates a regional office, out of the British High Commission (BHC) in Singapore. It is an operating arm of the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Defence.  The UKHO has been charting the world’s oceans for more than 200 years.  The primary aim of the organisation is providing navigational products and services for the Royal Navy and merchant mariners to save and protect lives at sea and the UKHO holds a strong market position through effective management of their worldwide distribution network of chart agents.  

The UKHO produces a worldwide series of some 3,500 paper nautical charts, 200 publications under the ADMIRALTY brand and Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs). The ADMIRALTY portfolio is sold globally and used by nearly 70% of international shipping.  In a complex regulatory environment, with safety critical products, competition never previously faced and a market of over 50,000 vessels working through a worldwide network of over 100 independent distributors the Admiralty branded network faces a real challenge in leading the development of a new digital business.

The Sales Support Executive will provide sales support to all Account Manager and distributors to ensure that they actively promote Admiralty digital products to deliver the AAP target. The Jobholder will be managing Seminars and training by UKHO in Asia including planning, execution, logistics and marketing.
Work with Channel team on counterfeit measures and procedures. Assist them in gathering information, insights and evidence on counterfeit products by working closely with distributors and shipping companies. 

Although office based the job holder will be required to travel occasionally in the region to manage the diverse range of distributors and customers.  Job Holders will have excellent communication skills and be able to think on their feet and respond to rapidly changing market conditions. Attendance at conferences, trade fairs and exhibitions will also be required.  

  • Responding to enquiries received from customers across the globe
  • Analysing complex queries to determine whether they can be resolved within the team or seek assistance from other areas of UKHO and monitoring the progress of these queries.
  • Recording, via a case management system, all incoming enquiries and subsequent actions, and update cases as required
  • Determining criticality and urgency of cases and assigning them to appropriate subject matter experts (SMEs) or colleagues, as necessary.
  • Resolving cases to the satisfaction of the customer, ensuring that the problem is fully understood and the resolution is complete.
  • Keeping up to date with current issues and the introduction of new products and services and confidently giving advice on their use.
  • Maintaining performance levels in line with the rest of the Customer Services team.
  • Contributing to Knowledge Base Article and sharing information learned

Planning and executing seminars and training in the region, including coming forward with training plans and specific modules

Assisting the Channel Team in audit process of regional distributors

Working with the Channel Team on counterfeit measures and procedures, specifically, assisting them in gathering information, insights and evidence on counterfeit products by working closely with distributors and shipping companies. 

Supporting the Head of Business on day-to-day office operations

  • Proven high level of customer service, which must include direct customer contact
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good investigation, analytical and problem solving skills to resolve queries quickly and efficiently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications ( Word, Excel, etc)
  • Able to manage time effectively
  • At least 3 years sales experience
  • Experience and understanding of the merchant marine sector including defence
  • Understanding of multi layered relationships and their operation in different cultures
  • Evidence of effective management of channel partners
  • Experience of using a CRM system

Normal working hours are 37.5 per week: 8.30am to 5.00pm from Monday to Friday.
