The British Embassy in Slovakia is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking for a Driver to join our team.

The main purpose of the job is to ensure smooth and timely execution of driving and other administrative duties for the Embassy.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide secure and efficient driving services to HMA, DHM and other staff, strive for more efficient driving (economize on petrol) and to provide good and reliable services (best routes, maps);
  • Maintain Embassy car fleet in operable and presentable condition, clean, tidy and in good technical state incl. servicing;
  • Participate in logistical preparations of high-level visits, including driving schedules etc;
  • Assist with administrative and hoc tasks - phone calls, bookings, registration and deregistration of official and private UK based staff vehicles, insurance covers etc.;
  • Provide procurements and purchasing services for Embassy items and ad hoc shopping for Residence staff, reconciliation of GPC and CCC cards on our system;
  • Messenger duties, deliveries of post to MFA and elsewhere as appropriate;
  • Do the Cost of living exercise’s price collection on-line or in shops if feasible;
  • Escort external workers at the Embassy, the Residence or in UK based staff’s properties;
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks regarding the furniture sale, house arrangements, etc.;
  • Cover for the Embassy Guard at residence and at Embassy events or if needed;
  • Provide cover for HMA’s Driver during leave or absences and out of hours driving every other week;
  • Perform other relevant duties as requested by the Embassy’s management.

The jobholder will be required to travel across and outside the country.

  • Secondary school education;
  • Holds a Driver license (min 5 years); 
  • Minimum 4 to 5 years’experience as a Driver;
  • Availability to travel across and outside the country;
  • Good IT competencies;
  • Good communication skills both oral and written in English;
  • Well-developed sense of safety; presentable appearance; service and customer focus approach.

      This is a full-time position, for a contract period of 1 year with a probation period of three months.

      The monthly salary for this position is € 1000 gross, payable 13 times a year.

      The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.

      Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Bratislava are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local Slovakia employment law.

      Visa/passport requirements: Applicants must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Slovakia and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. The British Embassy does not sponsor for work permits
