The British Embassy in Bratislava is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking an Information Technology and Security Support Officer to maintain, support and modernise the IT infrastructure and to contribute to the embassy’s security.

 A key part of your role is to ensure that the IT infrasctructure is running at full speed, as well as to design and implement key IT projects. You will also be responsible for IT budget planning.

Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager, you will have the ability to plan and implement local and outsourced Crisis and Business Continuity Plans, and provide support to the Security Team in aspects like communication systems and CCTV.

 We are looking for a highly motivated and customer-oriented individual to help grow our IT and security support.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • To be a point of contact for users’ IT queries particularly on escalated help desk tickets;
  • To maintain an accurate log of work performed and issues raised through the help desk;
  • To provide IT support during training courses and events in the Embassy including set ups;
  • To ensure maximum availability of the IT system by closely monitoring performance and liaising with ITSOs at other posts and with London Helpdesk whenever needed;
  • To manage user accounts using Microsoft Management Console/Active Directory;
  • To ensure IT security of the system and that potential breaches are reported and investigated;
  • To maintain IT Security Procedures and ensure they are circulated;
  • To ensure paperwork for issued devices is signed by recipients;
  • To manage and monitor the budget of officially supplied devices;
  • To act as a buyer on the financial management system, according to the procurement process of the Embassy;
  • To maintain and improve the inventory of IT equipment, including mobile phones;
  • To review, procure, install and manage hardware, and return faulty equipment;
  • To provide an efficient and user-friendly Business Continuity Plan, including IT Contingency solutions;
  • To administer and maintain Prism, Pyramid & maintain standalone machines;
  • To administer and maintain dirty LAN, ISP, SLA Hardware and infrastructure;
  • In conjunction with the Post Security Officer, ensuring security of buildings, staff and information.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills particularly around stakeholder and customer relationships;

Previous relevant experient in IT: MS Office and Sharepoint, Windows Server Active Directory, cloud controlled WiFi systems, HTML, MySQL and PHP MyAdmin;

Willingness and ability to review, develop, and improve existing systems;

Fluency in written and spoken English and Slovak;

Strong administrative skills and organisational skills;

Previous experience in IT infrastructure maintenance would be a huge asset in this role.

This is a part-time position, 20.00 hours per week, for a contract period of 1 year with a probation period of three months.  

The monthly salary for this position is € 767,00 gross, payable 13 times a year.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
