Main purpose of job:
To develop and implement a dynamic communication strategy for UK in Mozambique
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
To design and implement communication activities that promote and explain the UK’s work in Mozambique
Design and implement communications plans for specific events and campaigns;
Promote positive perceptions of the UK in Mozambique;
Confident in using social media, you will manage the High Commission’s digital communication channels in an innovative manner which reaches a wide audience;
You will keep abreast of wider developments and UK public diplomacy campaigns, adapting them to local audiences where appropriate;
You will build and grow a wide network of contacts including cultural/social media influences, seeking out opportunities to support, promote and deepen UK/Mozambique opportunities for partnership;
Review and measure impact of UK communications strategy in Mozambique
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
Small comms budget (~USD10,000/year), 1 x intern/assistant
- A formal Communication/Media qualification;
- Creative self starter
- Minimum 2 years social media management;
- Minimum 2 years event management;
- Excellent oral, written and digital communication skills;
- Minimum 2 years of video editing and production;
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Portuguese;
Working Hours
Normal office hours are:-
08.00 - 12.30 and 13.00 – 16.00 Monday to Thursday
08.00 - 13.00 on Fridays

All staff are entitled to 25 working days’ annual leave
Public Holidays
A number of public holidays are observed each year. These holidays will be a mix of both British and Mozambican public holidays, but not all holidays granted by Britain will be included.
- The position is for a 12 month renewable contract.

- Employees who are not eligible to pay local income tax: e.g. certain third-country nationals and spouses/partners of UK diplomats will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
