View Vacancy - Economic Adviser (SBR407)
The British Embassy in Serbia is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Economic Adviser to provide high quality economic advice to guide policy and to support governance and related projects, implemented by the British Embassy in Belgrade.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the management of economic governance/development and wider programme work in the Embassy, including issues pertaining to project identification, design, as well as monitoring and evaluation;
- Follow and prepare reports about developments in sectors impacting on projects, liaise with donors, alert senior managers to risks stemming from projects, contribute to the Embassy programme planning process, share lessons learnt with colleagues in Post/region/London/donors;
- Produce regular economic briefings and ad-hoc reports when needed, to help inform our policy work, both in the Embassy and in London;
- Maintain contacts and establish new relationships with Government, IFIs, think tanks, experts and other stakeholders on Good Governance project work.
- Proficient communication in English and Serbian both verbal and written;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Excellent problem solving skills;
- Experience of reporting and analysing economic issues;
- Knowledge of the political economy of Serbia;
- A willingness to occasionally work anti-social hours at short notice and to travel overseas;
- Ability to learn quickly and multitask;
- High level of IT skills including MS Word and Excel.
- Proven experience of economic knowledge (work experience/academic history).
- Proven experience of working with international community / international donors.
This is a Temporary full-time position of 5 working days, 39 gross hours per week and the length of the contract will be for the duration of the project.
In addition to monthly salary, staff receives a meal allowance of €70 per month and transport allowance of 3,725 dinars per month (review each February) as per Terms & Conditions.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background and security clearance and must have pre-existing work authorisation for Serbia in order to apply.
The successful candidate will be hired as a permanent member of staff under the terms and conditions which apply to all locally-engaged staff in employment relationship; tax and social contributions will be paid accordingly.
All contributions are deductable at the source. If for any reason the contractor is required to work for periods longer than the conditioned hours overtime may be paid.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Serbia are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Serbian employment law.
