Main purpose of job

The US Network  Human Resources team is responsible for supporting UK Government staff based across the USA, delivering  excellent HR Services for nearly 800 staff in 14 locations (including the Embassy in Washington (450 staff), 8 Consulates and 5 UK Government Offices).

The role reports to the Head of Human Resources and has responsibility for management of the day to day operations of employee relations, compensation and benefits for the US Network. Leading a diverse group of  of HR professionals, creating a high performing team within a culture of excellence in a fast paced environment.


This role will be required to

·       Manage the day-to-day operations of the employee relations, compensation, and benefits for the US Network. 

·       Promote a culture of excellence with all customer interactions and work products. 

·       Daily supervision of four HR Officers. 

·       Ensure consistent and fair treatment of all staff across the US Network.

·       Maintain and report on HR Metrics. 

·       Conduct and coordinate weekly New Hire Orientation for new starters across all Posts. 

·       Ensure compliance with yearly country-based staff budgets. 

·       Assist with the development and communication of employee policies which are in-line with global FCDO direction while ensuring compliance with US labour laws. 

·       Oversee the job classification process. 

·       Work with the Deputy Head of the HR HUB to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing.

·       Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

·       Provide technical advice to senior management teams.

·       Other duties as required

·       A minimum of an bachelor’s degree or additional equivalent experience in a relevant field

·       At least 5 or more years of experience working in a general HR capacity, preferably  with 3 years in a management role

·       Knowledge of either US HR policies and practices or UK Civil Service HR policies and practices required. 

·       Strong influencing skills with a record of delivering through others

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Working knowledge of MS Office

·       Ability to demonstrate a high level of creativity and innovation

·       Knowledge of ADP Workforce, a plus
