MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To work on day to day events held at the Residence and to be working with other Residence staffs to ensure that the Residence is run efficiently and in accordance with the type of event held at the Residence.
To work as a team and with other members at the Embassy, to ensure that duties are shared in the best way to deliverance excellent services.

  1. At all time, to be ready to receive Ambassador’s official guests for official engagements, and this including senior Korean & International ministerial & senior UK dignitaries.
  2. Playing part in delivering, organizing, preparation, and delivery for major Residence events, some formal dinners, receptions and some major outdoor events by external hiring company or King’s Birthday Garden Party.
  3. To liaise with Residence Manager of any potential difficulties, last moment changes, or problem developing.
  4. To be able to provide excellent services to anyone coming to the Residence for an event.
  5. To cover during Butler’s absence
  6. Work on table setting, managing table serving & beverages, meals, and also to ensure furniture is moved and stored as necessary before events and those are properly stored.
  7. To properly assist hiring companies so that the event is carried out without any problems and in a professional manner.
  8. To keep pantry drinks refrigerator/cupboards well stocked at all times and maintain sufficient supplies of other household items, this includes caring for china and stock keeping silver, cutlery and glassware.
  9.  Reporting any breakages and discrepancies to Residence Manager.
  10. Assisting residence team on IT/financial works that includes printing menu, name tent, reimbursement, impress account etc.

RESOURCES MANAGED (staff and expenditure):

  • There are no direct line management responsibilities but responsible for working closely with other residence team members and contractors and extra waiters.

  • Experience of working in catering service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word & Excel.
  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Language: English / Korean

While some evening work and travel overseas (which might include weekends) and within Korea is required, we promote family-friendly flexible working opportunities, where operational and security needs allow.

Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:15 (17:00 on Fridays). However, occasional evening and weekend working may be required, for which time off in lieu is given. The British Embassy encourages flexible working and various flexible working arrangements are possible with line manager agreement, including working from home

This is a 12-months fixed-term role.
