The British Embassy in Tirana is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking for a Strategic Engagement Officer A2, based in Tirana.

The overall goal of the position is to support Post’s work in helping reduce the effects of Albanian organised crime groups on the UK, through a targeted
communications strategy, in conjunction with broader Her Majesty’s Government (HMG) work. The successful candidate will- under the supervision of the head of the Political and Public Affairs team and the Western Balkans Justice and Home Affairs Coordinator- draft and implement a communications campaign to deter/divert people from becoming involved in serious organised crime (SOC), taking into account the available body of research aimed at understanding patterns and pathways of involvement in SOC. In addition they will be required to assist in wider Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) communications work.

Main Duties / Responsibilities

  • To create and draft media plans and messaging, developing content calendars and conducting online and offline campaigns;
  • To build and maintain sustained communication with external and internal stakeholders and local communities to ensure an integrated implementation of the campaign;
  • To respond to media enquiries regarding the campaign, including briefing, producing and distributing media materials;
  • To regularly monitor and evaluate the impact of the campaign adapting communications as required to ensure messaging remains relevant and on track;
  • To monitor local media and provide communication and analysis on wider JHA issues; alongside wider communications work in support of the team as required.
     
  • University degree in communications or a relevant field;

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in campaign planning, implementation and evaluation;

  • Experience in working with complex and sensitive issues; particularly in advocacy campaigns;

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in both Albanian and English;

  • Strong analytical and judgment skills.

  • Ability to digest and present very articulate and analytical reports to non-specialist audiences;

  • Understands the need for community-fed development of initiatives.

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time fixed term contract for one year, with possibility of renewal, for 5 working days (36 hours net) per week.

The monthly salary for this position is 127,626.00 (ALL) gross per month, at A2 level. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by local law.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and three months probation period.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Tirana are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local (Albanian) employment law.
