View Vacancy - ROK - Trade Policy & Market Access Officer, A2(L)
Main purpose of job:
The successful candidate will be part of the Trade Policy team mainly covering Market Access and Trade Policy work in support of Embassy objectives under the Country Business plan (CBP). The officer will work closely with DIT (Department of International Trade) Team in Embassy.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:
Trade Policy
- Monitor media and contribute to weekly updates on Korea-EU FTA
- Identify, track and report on issues around Korea-EU FTA including Korean interests,
- Map, track and report on UK business usage of Korea-EU FTA,
- Where necessary, support arrangement of bilateral ministerial meetings,
- Help to devise and deliver Prosperity Fund projects working with Trade Policy and DIT teams.
Market Access
- Monitor situation and contribute to weekly updates on British companies’ market access issues,
- Support design of market access strategies and implement action plans,
- Work and proactively engage with DIT, businesses and other stakeholders to resolve British companies' market access issues (all non-agriculture/SPS sectors with support from Trade Market Access Manager),
- Update monthly Market Access Spreadsheet and release reports to HQ and UK stakeholers: DIT, DEFRA etc.
- Provide Market access input to bilateral ministerial meetings,
- Help deliver Prosperity Fund projects to remove market barriers for full implementation of Korea-EU FTA.
Budget Management and Administrative Support
- Lead Trade Policy team’s budget management working with corporate service team,
- Help Senior Trade Policy officer with logistical arrangements for events and meetings,
- Manage TP team’s administrative payment process for events/meetings/project funds including PRISM process.

- A flexible team player able to work in a busy open environment supporting team members,
- Able to communicate with a range of contacts in sectors and ministries in writing and verbally,
- Able to develop reports and process administrative payment tasks in timely and precise manner.,
- Have flexibility and willingness to learn amid changing priorities.
Language requirements:
- English - Intermediate High (Spoken: Fluent and Written: Good)
- Korean - Advanced (Spoken: Fluent and Written: Good)
- General understanding of Trade Policy, the EU-Korea FTA and UK trade and investment environment.
