The British High Commission (BHC) in Malta is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Residence and Events Manager to manage the operation of the High Commissioner’s Residence and to plan, organise and deliver events for the High Commissioner and other members of the High Commission staff.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Organisation of events for the High Commission ranging from tea for two to receptions of 100+;
  • Maintenance of contact lists;
  • Preparation of guest lists and issue invitations both paper and electronic;
  • Engagement with suppliers, casual staff and High Commission staff to ensure all events run smoothly;
  • Procurement of supplies and services in line with FCDO procurement practices;
  • Management of 2 housemaids;
  • Close cooperation with Personal Assistant (PA)/High Commissioner on HC’s diary and plans;
  • Oversight of the Residence building. Bringing any maintenance issues to the High Commission estate team and following up on actions;
  • Supervision of contractors and visitors to the High Commissioner’s Residence;
  • Management of stocks and stores;
  • Preparation of ad hoc reports of eg attendance, costings etc,;
  • Supervision of weekend and evening events.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written, minimum C1 level*);
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently;
  • Strong problem solving skills using own judgement;
  • MS Office Skills.
  • Maltese Language;
  • Experience of managing budgets;
  • Experience of event management;
  • Previous Line management experience.

This is a part-time of 17.5 hours/week, 12 months renewable contract.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
