The British Embassy in Copenhagen is part of a world-wide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas is looking for an Intern to join the Comms and Public Diplomacy Team, to assist in the day-to-day running of the British Embassy Copenhagen’s external communications, ditigal media and events activity. 

You will assist with digital and social media content planning and development; contribute creatively to the development of public diplomacy campaigns; and assist in the running of events. Through communications and public diplomacy, you will help to promote a strong, productive and mutually beneficial UK-Denmark bilateral relationship; promote the UK, and its values and culture in Denmark; and help to ensure effective communication of key information to British nationals and businesses in Denmark.

During the internship, you will gain insight into, and become actively involved in a variety of interesting areas related to communications and public diplomacy, such as: 

  • Assisting in the development and running of virtual and in-person events, and event preparation and delivery;
  • Assisting in the development, creation and management of social media content;
  • Monitoring social media channels and producing reports;
  • Contributing to the development of social media channels strategy;
  • Helping to grow the British Embassy Copenhagen’s online presence and sphere of influence, particularly among key audiences and segments;
  • Developing digital content, editing and promoting output;
  • Monitoring similar organisations’ digital outputs;
  • Ad hoc communications and public diplomacy tasks.
  • We are looking to recruit a determined, self-sufficient, enterprising and results-oriented individual who is driven by an interest in public diplomacy, international relations or public communications.
  • Fluency in English and Danish both oral and written (C1/C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*).
  • We imagine that you may have already gained some communications experience, perhaps in the international sphere, that you have strong interpersonal skills, fluent Danish and excellent English communication skills, and the ability to deliver on set objectives.

This is a full-time, internship for a period of 6 months.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Copenhagen are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Danish employment law.

Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Denmark and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
