The British Embassy Tunis is seeking to appoint Project Advisor to the Embassy Attaché grade B3 (L) to start in February 2021.

Main purpose of the Job:

To provide advisory and assistance to the law enforcement attaché at the British Embassy in Tunis in support of UK and host priorities. To assist with the training of law enforcement officers across the region and maintain records of all training delivery provided by the British Embassy to host partners.

To maintain close relationships with law enforcement colleagues and be the point of contact for their interaction with UK law enforcement. To receive senstive information from partners, write concise reports to the project lead and treat that information with a high level of discretion and integrity. Support the project lead at meetings with senior government officials and senior law enforcement officials and provide high quality interpretaion often using technical language.

Monitor open source information across North Africa and report to the project lead on factors influencing UK priorities in the region, for example, human trafficking, people smuggling and illicit finance.

Support the project team within the Embassy with a range of administrative tasks which may include activity such as hotel and flight bookings and asisting high level delegattions with travel assistance both to Tunisia and European destinations. The job holder must be prepared to travel themselves both within Tunisia and abroad as required in support of the Project Team.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To conduct arrangements for the creation of a project :to include
  • Training delivery arrangements
  • Managing the vetting process for the project
  • Equipment order and installation, ensuring compliance with NCA policies
  • Maintenance of equipment registers
  • Providing detailed accounting of spending to HMG standards
  • Organise various events;
  • Publishing and Maintaining all policies and procedures
  • Analyse data produced from Project and present results / findings;
  • Carry out general financial administration including the payment of invoices;
  • Attend meetings as and when required in support of attaché to include translation
  • Assist in maintaining host nation relationships.
  • Assist the Local Liaison Assistant when required
  • Process requests from both Tunisian and UK law enforcement agencies
  • Conduct open source research and analysis as needed

The above list is not exhaustive and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required.

  • Good IT skills in particular the ability to order and analyse data utilising the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • A high level of discretion and integrity.
  • A flexible approach which may involve work and travel outside core hours.
  • Previous experience of working in a law enforcement environment is desirable.

Working hours and remuneration:

The British Embassy in Tunisia offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. Initial salary will be TND 3,174 per month while on probation. Salary after probation is TND 3,927. This is for a full-time employment, on a fixed term basis for one-year.

Conditioned working hours are 40 hours gross per week. Standard working hours are from 08:00-16:30 from Monday to Thursday and 08:00-13:00 on Fridays.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 3 months probationary period. The appointment will also be subject to satisfactory local and UK security clearances.

Eligibility:

Candidate must be eligible to work and reside in Tunisia immediately.
