  • To provide support to the Chevening and Political team on administrative duties, with a particular focus on tasks related to the smooth running of the Chevening Programme in Brazil.
  • To provide support on promoting the Chevening Programme in Brazil, through social media and other promotional activity.

 

Roles and responsibilities:

The British Embassy Brasilia invites applications from students in Administration, Communications, International Relations, Marketing, Public Relations or related courses to join the Chevening team in Brazil. This is a new position within the Chevening team at the British Embassy which will give the successful candidate plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and develop existing ones. 

Chevening Programme is the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations (universities and private companies). The Chevening programme began in 1983 and has developed into a prestigious international scheme.

  • General support to the Chevening team, including admin tasks.
  • Supporting the running of the Chevening interview process by filing and organising application forms, setting up  interviews and ensure participants are equipped with supporting papers. 
  • Assisting in updating databases, organising meetings, booking venues and liaising with the Chevening Alumni network by updating alumni groups in social media as well as compiling information for a monthly newsletter.
  • Follow-up on preparation for scholars’ pre-departure and welcome back events; support promotional events and outreach.
  • Carrying out research on Universities and Masters courses in the UK.
  • Attending local events and educational fairs when necessary (within working hours).

 

The successful candidate will have the chance to work face-to-face with diplomats and senior managers, and be involved in the diplomatic life of an Embassy. The main working language of the Embassy in English, so the jobholder will be able to further strengthen oral and written fluency. On-the-job support and feedback will be provided and, where possible, opportunities to combine the academic interests of the successful candidate with Embassy work will be identified.

  • We encourage candidates studying any Bachelor's degree, ie Administration, Communications, International Relations, Marketing, Public Relations, or similar subjects. 
  • We are looking for an enthusiastic, pro-active and self-motivated intern, with excellent organisational, interpersonal, and communications skills in both English and Portuguese.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Outlook and MS Office packages.
  • Previous experience with basic organisation of events and managing databases would be an advantage.
