Main purpose of job:

Reporting to the Logistics Coordinator, the post holder will perform driving and related transport duties for and on behalf of British High Commission staff.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Transport staff to meetings, official functions, and airport runs.

  • Perform mail deliveries to partners, Government Ministries, other High Commissions and Embassies.

  • Perform duties for Consular Section as advised e.g. collect birth, and death and marriage certificates from the BMD.

  • Facilitate customs clearances and vehicle registrations by delivering documentation to the appropriate authorities, liaising with officials, and taking vehicles (official and private) for the relevant vehicle inspections.

  • Complete daily checks on vehicles and report faults

  • Carry our routine (non-technical) maintenance i.e. replacing wiper blades, light bulbs

  • Clean the vehicles (exterior and interior)

  • Responsible for ensuring up country and vehicle medical kits are up to date and fire extinguishers are in order and available in each vehicle.

  • Ensure that all passengers/users are adhering to safety requirements and other BHC regulations for users.

  • Assist with the delivery of vehicles for repairs to the relevant garage.

  • Hold a drivers licence

  • 3 years driving experience

  • Good communication and people skills

  • A positive ‘can do’ approach to work and the ability to work as part of a team

  • Language Proficiency: English

  • Basic computer skills e.g. using Microsoft word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge in Mechanics an advantage.
