Main purpose of job:


This Trade and Investment Associate supports both the US Head of Sector – BioPharma) to generate FDI and Export leads, develop meeting schedules, compile research and information and contributes to briefings for VIP visitors, and supports the Head of Trade & Investment with team budget management, client engagement and special projects.


Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

 

Support the forging of strong relationships with business leaders, trade associations, and interlocutors both in the UK and the US.  

 

Generate leads and projects from US prospects looking to set up in the UK, and support UK companies in our High Value Campaigns to grow their US sales and footprint, keeping excellent client records in our CRM.

 

Deliver impactful, targeted marketing programs and events in conjunction with partners and stakeholders to build DIT awareness, promote key messages, and showcase UK competitiveness.



Support the Head of Trade & Investment with budgeting and forecasting, cross Boston-Post programs including trade missions and VIP visits and tracking/reporting outcomes.



 

  • Bachelor’s degree or experience - in a Life Sciences field is preferred;
  • Relevant work experience and/or business development experience in the US and, ideally, the UK;
  • Strong client management experience
  • Strong administrator with keen communication skills
  • Proactivity, organized and works to deadlines, prioritizes and is able to multi-task;
  • A self-starter, able to work independently and show initiative with limited day-to-day supervision while operating as part of a wider team with shared goals and wide-ranging objectives;
  • Strong networking skills;
  • Computer literacy in standard Microsoft applications;
  • Driving license and ability to undertake occasional air travel including overnight stays

All new DIT staff undertaken Orientation in the UK and in NY in their first 6 months and receive sector specific briefing in order to understand the UK’s High Value Campaigns, and areas of strength. Ongoing opportunities include ‘learning sets’ to explore ongoing learning to enhance skills.


The Boston office works full-flex hours, providing team members the opportunity to work from home 1-2 days a week (after 6 months), and flex daily hours to those needed for business purposes balanced with homelife. Some after hours work is required from time to time.
