The British Consulate General in Jeddah has a vacancy for a Corporate Services Manager on a fixed term contract for one (1) year. There is a possibility of extension of the contract depending on performance and operational requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Corporate Services in Jeddah, covering HR and L&D, estates and transport. The jobholder will manage the Estate and Residential Villas with support from the Corporate Services Team (CST). They will facilitate procurement and contracts at Post with support from the Deputy Head of Corporate Services (DHCS) based in Riyadh. They will also co-ordinate learning and development at Post with guidance from the Learning & Development (L&D) Manager based in Riyadh. 

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for HR, L&D, Transport, Estates, and Maintenance at Post under guidance from the Head of Corporate Services (HCS) in Riyadh who has ultimate accountability for all areas. Due to the remoteness, there is a requirement for the CSM to take decisions locally.
  • Liaising with contractors to ensure the estate is well maintained and we are getting value for money.
  • Managing various existing/ new supplier relations in line with value for money without compromising quality.
  • HR responsibility for all country based staff at Post including new starters.
  • L&D responsibility for Post, liaising with the KSA L&D lead in Riyadh.
  • Coordinating the collation of VAT invoices with the Jeddah Corporate Services team and providing additional information in a timely manner as requested by Riyadh post VAT officer.
  • Acting as VAT representative for the Consulate, which includes submitting Quarterly VAT claims and additional supporting paperwork as requested by the Saudi Arabia Customs & Tax authorities.
  • Manage the ageing BCG building and the Estate of nine (9) villas and amenities.
  • Close coordination between budget holding authorities in KSA Network for corporate, events and visits.
  • Cross-departmental work around key events as an operational lead.
  • Work within a defined budget for repair and maintenance (R&M).
  • Additional duties as requested by HCS.

The jobholder will manage staff in: Corporate Services (x2), Transport (x5), Technical Works (x1), CSA Facilitator (x1).

The above list is not exhaustive and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating in the Embassy’s emergency planning and any other response to a crisis affecting UK citizens.

Eligibility:

The position is available to Saudi Nationals and to current holders of valid Saudi residence permits or transferable iqamas. The successful candidate will be required to transfer their sponsorship to the British Consulate General.

  • Previous experience in a similar role, including managing budgets and resources and HR provision.
  • Experience of delivering through a team, responding to demands of a wider range of stakeholders and servicing them accordingly.
  • Understanding of customers and delivering excellent service
  • Experience of managing staff and leading a team. Ability to work well in a team, manage others, and understand diversity
  • Excellent organisational ability, with proven ability to manage, plan, and prioritise tasks and workload; and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to manage resources, including own time and tasking, and use initiative
  • Flexible, resilient, decisive, and calm under pressure. With a proven track record of delivering results to a high standard within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and spoken. Able to express ideas and messages confidently, clearly and concisely, both orally and in written communication.
  • Strong IT skills and literacy in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Estates management and experience in financial control

Salary details:

  • Base Salary including Eid bonus - SAR 8,557.81
  • Housing Allowance - SAR 2,139.45 (subject to eligibility)*
  • Travel Allowance - SAR 400 (subject to eligibility)*
  • Total - SAR 11,097.26

*Allowances are not payable to staff who receive official provision for such expenditure in some other form.

No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

This position is full-time, based on 35 hours per week. Normal working hours for the Embassy are from 08:00 to 15:00 from Sunday to Thursday, with core working hours from 10:00-15:00. Core working hours is the period of the day that employees are required to be at work. The working day outside of the core hours is a flexible period, which allows employees to choose when they work, subject to operational needs.

The jobholder will be required to be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours. Flexible working arrangements will be considered based on operational requirements and in line with Embassy policy.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.
