Main purpose of job:
The UK Government’s North America Trade and Investment network is looking to hire a Director of Change Management to oversee and lead the delivery of a large scale change programme for the 2022-2025 Spending Review period.
The Director of Change Management will play a key role in ensuring our change initiatives meet objectives on time and on budget by increasing employee adoption and usage. This person will focus on the people side of change, including changes to business processes, systems and technology, job roles and organization structures. The primary responsibility will be creating and implementing change management strategies and plans that maximize employee adoption and usage and minimize resistance. The Change Director will work to drive faster adoption, higher ultimate utilization of and proficiency with the changes that impact employees. These improvements will increase benefit realization, value creation, ROI and the achievement of results and outcomes.
The Director of Change Management will act as a coach for senior leaders in helping them fulfil the role of “change sponsor”. The successful candidate will also provide direct support and coaching to all levels of managers and supervisors as they help their direct reports through transitions. The Director of Change Management will also support project teams in integrating change management activities into their project plans.

In this role you would be working in a diverse international environment with UK diplomats and other country based staff operating across the British Government’s network of Consulates and Government Offices in the United States. This network provides a platform for approximately 30 Government departments and agencies to conduct their work in the United States and is made up of over 900 staff with a rich and diverse background, skill sets, and experiences.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Work with the COO and Director of Strategy to create and implement change management strategies, processes and plans that maximize network adoption and usage and minimize resistance.
- Provide portfolio management for all change activities across the SR, prioritise changes, and manage the change pipeline
- Maintain visibility of the interdependencies, project plans, assumptions, risks and issues with regards to the change programme.
- Work with COO to ensure resourcing of change projects across the organisation and potentially help to procure short-term resources as and when additional capacity is required to deliver change activities
- Work to drive faster adoption, higher ultimate utilization of and proficiency with the changes that impact employees including through supporting the Internal Communications Officer with the development of communications relevant to change initiatives.
- Embedding digital tools and increasing adoption of new technologies, key tools, processes and procedures integral to the change plan (e.g. GPS)
- Work with Operations leadership to identify, improve, and deliver process improvement
- Assess and measure organisational culture and behaviours
- Any other duties as assigned.
- Extensive experience working on large scale change management projects and programmes, ideally in a consulting organisation or in an internal consultant role
- Experience leading programmes that include technology change and adoption
- Experience of managing multiple change programme across geographies with differing needs and stakeholders
- Thorough understanding of change management challenges, opportunities, methodologies and frameworks.
- Significant experience in a leadership role and the ability to lead, motivate and manage diverse teams to deliver high quality results.
- A minimum of 8 years’ professional business experience.
- An in depth knowledge of business, the US and the UK economies. An understanding of international relations and UK Government policy.
- Ability to influence others and gain buy-in at the team, peer and executive level.
- Proven experience delivering creative and innovative solutions to business challenges.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Excellent grasp of the English language

Salaries are based on where the selected employee will live and work from.
Region 1: Atlanta, Beaufort, Denver, Georgia, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Minneapolis, Norfolk, Orlando or Raleigh-Durham: $98,757
Region 2: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Washington, DC: $108,499
Region 3: New York, San Francisco: $116,443
