The British Embassy Abu Dhabi has a vacancy for a Maintenance Officer. Reporting directly to the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, the role concentrates on providing support for the Embassy’s Estates work in both Hard and Soft facilities services.

The jobholder will be responsible in the collation and recording of information involving routine planned preventative maintenance schedules, repairs, and minor project works. They will be required to take an administration role and be able to use FCO software in the recording and uploading of information onto the intranet. This will include the raising of purchase orders, recording completed works, and receipting invoices. There is a large role in ensuring that works carried out are compliant with government standards and are recorded accordingly.

Additional responsibilities are to assist in requesting for quotations, tendering processes for goods and service contracts, and monitoring budget spend and forecasting in consultation with budget holder for the allocated maintenance budget for presentation to the Head of Estates.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the monitoring of an online works request system, contractors and in house staff will be working on the following maintenance issues:

              - Fire protection and management systems;

              - AC installations;

              - Gardens;

              - Swimming pool and associated water treatment plant;

              - Electrical distribution and installations;

              - Standby generator;

              - Security gates/ vehicle barriers;

              - Waste services

  • Perform, document, and record Estate Property Inspections and Hazard Risk Assessments for both residential and office.
  • Arrange and record third party testing, i.e., water, gas installations, electrical installations, lift installations, etc.
  • Support Corporate Services in sourcing external quotes and related documents for maintenance works. Liaise with external contractors when on site.
  • Assist with preparing a work schedule for a team of technicians and cleaners on a day-to-day basis.
  • Assisting Corporate Services in preparing budget estimates for rectification works for future spends.
  • Completion of H&S safety due diligence, record data, and meeting compliance requirements.
  • Raise requisitions and purchase orders for goods and services through the in-house management tool.
  • Support the monitoring and spend profile on small works, store items, and supplies.

  • Holds a recognised Facilities Management qualification.
  • Knowledge of using Oracle-based applications.
  • Holds NEBOSH IGC qualification.
  • Valid UAE driving licence.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures.

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: 25 days of annual leave per annum, on-site swimming pool, gym, and sports facilities.

Salary is at AED 11,108 per month.

There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07:30 to 15:06, including a lunch break of 36 minutes, from Sunday to Thursday.

The successful candidate should also be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will also be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours.

Successful candidates will be required to transfer their visa under the Embassy's sponsorship.

Process:
