The British Trade Office in Al Khobar has a vacancy for a Trade & Investment Advisor under the Department for International Trade.

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is the British government’s lead department for international trade and supports foreign investment into the United Kingdom. The jobholder will work with both the Energy Cluster (70% of the time) and Education & Training Cluster (30% of the time).

You will promote business opportunities to the UK relating to both clusters across the KSA network and understand KSA market trends and ambitions to identify valuable Export Opportunities and secure high value Export Wins in pursuit of Saudi Arabia targets and corporate objectives for DIT.

This is an interesting and varied role and comes at an interesting time as the relationship develops between the UK and Saudi Arabia.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage relationships with UK SMEs, DIT Sector Group, FCO Prosperity teams, Saudi British Joint Business Council (SBJBC), British Council, UK trade associations, our Overseas Business Networks Initiative (OBNI) partner Arabian Enterprise Incubators (AEI), and other KSA stakeholders to identify the wider KSA opportunities and needs which match UK capability and translate these into solid Export Wins for UK providers.
  • Develop and maintain Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) across specific areas with key interlocutors in the sectors to understand their objectives and inform DIT’s approach to the sectors.
  • Identify key trends, trajectory, and local business drivers that will add value to DIT’s business pipeline and support the wider Vision 2030 goals. These will contribute towards DIT’s Key Performance Indicators.
  • Help deliver specific activities or events, e.g., trade missions, inward and outward visit programmes, country/ sector briefing, as well as supporting the wider corporate activities which are led by the Director of the British Trade Office.

The above list is not exhaustive and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required, including participating in the emergency planning and any response to a crisis.

Salary details:

  • Base Salary including Eid bonus - SAR 8,365.41
  • Housing Allowance - SAR 2,091.35 (subject to eligibility)*
  • Travel Allowance - SAR 400 (subject to eligibility)*

*Allowances are not payable to staff who receive official provision for such expenditure in some other form.

No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Normal working hours for the Trade Office are 08.00 to 15.00 Sunday to Thursday. This position is full-time, based on 35 hours per week.

The jobholder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours, especially during events and visits. There may also be requirement for some travel, both internationally and within Saudi Arabia.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 90-day probationary period.

Eligibility:

The position is available to Saudi nationals and holders of Saudi residence permits or transferable Iqamas. Successful candidates will be required to transfer their sponsorship to the British Embassy.
