The British Embassy in Amman is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual for the position of Residential Estates Assistant, Grade – A1 (L).

Purpose of the job:

Working as a member of the British Embassy Amman’s Corporate Services Team and taking direction from the Residential Estates Manager, you will be responsible for providing high quality assistance and support services to the Residential Estates Team. Your role will bring you into contact with staff at all grades and you will need to ensure that you remain customer focussed and responsive at all times.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the payment of residential properties rents on Prism
  • Processing of specific GPC card invoices on Prism
  • Be responsible for purchasing, maintaining and storing Float supplies in line with demand
  • Be responsible for delivering float to properties, arrange float (including packing/unpacking boxes, making beds, arranging kitchen cupboards).
  • Receive carpets and curtain requests for residential properties.  Process these orders, monitor progress and facilitate delivery once made.
  • Process JIRPAC (Furniture Store Contractor) invoices
  • Taking daily instructions and tasks from the Residential Estates Manager or other members of the Estates Team as necessary.
  • Covering the work of the other team members when they are away.
  • Have overall responsibility of the Embassy furniture store; creating an inventory and up-dating it as and when necessary, maintaining cleanliness standards and tidy practices.

Essential:

  • Fluent communication skills in English and Arabic language (both written and spoken, this will be tested)
  • Up to 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree or other professional qualification in a related field
  • Strong organisation skills
  • Self-starter, comfortable with strategy and delivery with minimal support
  • Valid driving license

Working Hours and Remuneration: 

The position is part-time, at 18.5 hours a week with considerations of flexibility but will need to agree terms with the Line Manager.

Pay is on the Embassy A1 (L) scale, with a salary of JOD 392.50 per month. Please note that your salary will be paid gross and you are expected to comply with your tax obligations through completion of a tax return to the local authorities.  If exceptionally you are not liable to pay Jordanian tax, you will receive a net salary which is minus the deduction of an equivalent level of local tax.  Further information on this will be given to candidates at interview if necessary.

The package includes a good level of health insurance and a friendly, English-speaking work environment. We offer opportunities to develop professional skills through our Learning & Development offer. Leave entitlement is 25 days plus and 14 public holidays (on pro rata basis).

  • Receive the appropriate level of standard security clearance;
  • Have (or be willing to obtain) the right to live and work in Jordan. Candidate's residence permit and work permit, and the expense to obtain them, will be their own responsibility.
