Housekeeper

Main purpose of job:

To perform General Assistant/Household duties at the Residence of the British High Commissioner to Kuala Lumpur.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

  • Provide Laundry Services to the High Commissioner & Family
  • Provide Laundry Services to the wider residence, to include washing, starching and ironing of residence linens
  • To provide general residence cleaning and any ad hoc cleaning/projects upon request.
  • To assist with Service for Official Functions, dinners and events to include, waiting table and serving refreshments & alcohol
  • To support with washing up and cleaning after functions and events.
  • To assist other residence housekeeping staff in duties when on leave or off sick.

Essential on arrival:      

  • Previous experience working in hotel housekeeping and/or a domestic housekeeping environment.
  • Ability to serve alcohol.
  • Ability to work in a residence with family pets, including dogs
  • Ability to work flexible working schedule as needed, (some evenings will be required).
  • Good health, able to perform physical tasks without hindrance.

The role being advertised is a fixed-term contract of 6 months (subject to actual start date) (to 31 March 2022 only) in Kuala Lumpur.

We are looking for a candidate who can preferably start ASAP.

The British High Commission offers a competitive remuneration package, benefits, leave entitlement of 20 days per annum (calculated on pro rata basis) and works hard to provide L&D opportunities to staff.

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment and security checks. Staff who are locally recruited by the British High Commission are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law.

You must have the right to live and work in Malaysia. No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. 

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
