View Vacancy - Language Training Co-ordinator
Main purpose of job:
To manage the language training of FCO Essential Students, organising their overseas training, liaising with language officers and schools to achieve excellence in language training.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Foreign language skills have always been important to the FCO. But their relevance has increased further with the Global Britain agenda and the Foreign Secretary has a keen personal interest in the FCO's language capability.
Against this background, the Languages Team has an ambitious change agenda to help ensure the FCO's commitment to languages excellence becomes a reality. This position is fundamental to the success of this agenda as you will have a hands-on, operational remit ensuring that FCO students learning languages in the region stay on track to success.
The Languages Team is a high-performing team with a wealth of expertise and experience to support you and for you to learn from. You will be expected to be a good team worker and communicator; to work with colleagues in London and the other LTCs at post. Specifically you will:
- Act as the main point of contact for all FCO officers posted to (mainly) the Asian Pacific region who are learning a language, including organising overseas training in the appropriate country for full-time language students following their UK training;
- Assessing training centres across the region and ensuring value for money, with support from the team's academic expert;
- Maintaining student files and associated costs of training; and monitoring exam and test results/feedback;
- Act as main point of contact for Optional language training requests from the region
- Support on management information and data collection work for the team
- Language Officer for New Delhi supporting the language requirements of post
As the Diplomatic Academy continues to mature and the languages agenda evolves, the successful applicant should expect to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
Desirable:
- Experience in language teaching, or educational administration, would be a strong advantage
- Spoken and written regional languages are ideal but not essential
- Understanding of data management
For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Local Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.
For other than BHC candidates, salary will be INR 40,462 per month plus 12% provident fund and 6% Special Allowance.
