The British Embassy in Slovakia is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking for a Corporate Services Manager.

This position is a key team player within the management team in Bratislava, responsible for the smooth support services to the British Embassy Bratislava with a particular focus on the financial and facilities management of the Embassy. The person oversees a small team running the IT, finance, HR as well as diplomatic services provided and needs to ensure a strong performing platform for all local and diplomatic British Embassy staff in Slovakia.

The position provides guidance and support to all staff particularly the Deputy Ambassador and will work closely with the various Finance, HR and Facilities management Hubs across Europe working to both ensure that administration runs efficiently as well as contributing to the strategic direction and policy of all support functions.

The successful candidate will be customer focused, solution oriented and able to work within the policy and network of a global and complex organisation. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Taking a lead role in management of all support/non-political functions to ensure a strong platform for the Embassy and all other Government departments.

This platform provision requires strong liaison with the Deputy Ambassador on needs and support requirements including writing local policies and checking with regional hubs/Headquarter to ensure decisions are in line with governmental guidelines.

Keeping an eye on the Bratislava budget, communicating to staff the monthly updates on spend forecasts as well as Ad hoc financial reporting. Embedding a value for money culture in all spending and highlighting any financial risks both from internal or external sources.

Estates/Maintenance lead for Post including liaison with Estate Strategy Directorate, the FM Client Unit and Interserve FM on estate and finance issues for Bratislava and holding the FM provider accountable for delivery

Ensuring services and communications of the Corporate Services teams are delivered to the required standard, suggesting improvements in line with Government policy. Completing returns for various departments both internally and externally as required.

Fluent English and Slovak both in verbal and written form;

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus and an ability to work with contacts and colleagues at all levels;

Good organisational skills with the ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and be able to prioritise tasks;

Solution orientation, being creative and ability to develop solutions within government guidelines that are compliant to policy.

This is full-time and a fixed-term contract of 12 months starting in August 2019 to cover for maternity leave.  

The monthly salary for this position is € 1827 gross, payable 13 times a year.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearance.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Bratislava are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local Slovakia employment law.

Visa/passport requirements: Applicants must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Slovakia and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract. The British Embassy does not sponsor for work permits
