View Vacancy - Science and Innovation Internship - British Embassy, Berlin (DEU19.388)
The Science and Innovation team (part of the wider UK Science and Innovation Network) at the British Embassy in Berlin is offering an internship for 3 months. A part-time internship over a period longer than three months may also be possible.
The UK Science and Innovation Network (SIN) has approximately 110 officers around the world, tasked with building partnerships and collaborations which deliver policy, research or business outcomes against the SIN Global Strategy, benefiting both the UK and host country. The UK’s developing Industrial Strategy has a strong S&I foundation which will guide and inform SIN’s future work in support of prosperity and economic growth.
During the internship, you will have the chance to learn about the work of SIN in Germany, gain an insight into the research and innovation landscape in Germany, and into UK-Germany cooperation in fields including higher education, clean energy, AI and life sciences.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Carrying out background research on German and UK research landscape and government policy;
- Supporting stakeholder management and external communications;
- Supporting organisation of events and projects.
- Demonstrated interest in UK-German relations and diplomacy;
- Demonstrated interest in research and innovation;
- Project management experience (incl. events);
- Excellent organisational skills;
- Excellent English communication skills (at least C1 level);
- German Language skills (at least B1 level);
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel);
Applicants must be enrolled in a European University for the whole duration of the internship. According to your study programme requirements, a part-time internship over a period longer than three months may also be possible. Please indicate your availability in your application.

Visa/passport requirements: the successful applicant must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Germany and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.

The successful candidate will be subject to a background and security check before the internship can commence.

Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices CEFR.
