Main purpose of job:


The British Embassy in Mexico, through the Department for International Trade (DIT) is looking for an intern to assist the operations of the Inward Investment team, which is responsible for attracting Mexican Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the UK. Ultimately, the purpose of the job is to provide logistics and administrative support to ensure that events/conferences are executed seamlessly, that interactions with customers are recorded in an internal database and that basic briefings on specific sectors or companies are drafted.


 


 


Roles and responsibilities :


The successful candidate will be responsible for:


  • Keeping track of interactions with clients and managing DIT’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool
  • Drafting basic and specific briefings on sectors, companies and/or stakeholders
  • Overseeing logistics of events, conferences and missions
  • Negotiating with suppliers to ensure value for money on goods & services purchased
  • Updating a pipeline of projects and periodically drafting executive summaries

 


Essential on arrival:


  • Excellent communication skills on both English and Spanish languages
  • IT literacy (especially on Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • At least 70% completion of an undergraduate programme, preferably on Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, or other relevant fields
  • An interest to learn about current MX-UK commercial relations, especially on inward investment matters
  • Attention to detail, capacity to deliver under tight deadlines and effective multi-tasking







Desirable:


  • Knowledge on Customer Relationship Management tools
  • Social media skills
  • Flexibility to sometimes work out of office hours, providing logistics and administrative support on events, conferences or commercial missions

SIX MONTH INTERNSHIP WITH POSSIBILITY FOR EXTENSION

The candidate is expected to work 25 hours a week. Candidates that are still studying can negotiate a flexible schedule with the line manager.
