Main purpose of job:

To carry out electrical installation, inspect, isolate, troubleshoot and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instruments; maintain and repair fire, alarm, test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency to BS7671:2008

 

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

  • Inspect, maintain repair and overhaul electromechanical and solid state electrical equipment, using a variety of electrical test equipment, meters, powered and non-powered tools and equipment.
  • Carry out electrical work in residential, office and workshop buildings, including consumer unit changes, electrical rewires, wiring upgrades, minor works repairs and fault finding,
  •  Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electrical wiring according to BS 7671:2008 IET Wiring Regulations and FCO electrical standards.
  • Carry out periodic inspection and testing and completing of the necessary test certification in accordance with BS 7671:2008 and FCO Regulations. Also to complete other electrical certification where required.
  • To undertake testing of all portable and fixed electrical equipment (PAT Testing).
  • Carry out and complete all works to high quality and in a competent manner and with the property being left in a clean and tidy condition.
  •  Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems for Project facilities and equipment.
  • Troubleshoots repairs and maintains electrical distribution systems including electric motors, electric.
  • Ensures campus fire alarms and emergency electrical systems are operational; performs certification testing on alarm system.
  • Comply with and practice proper equipment clearance procedures.
  •  Perform all work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety and environment regulations.
  • Carry out maintenance of stand by generators keep records on log books. Maintains appropriate service and on call 24/7 as required.
  • Assist store manager to Prepare orders of supplies electrical materials.
  • Liaise with Eth. Electric Power Company as required.
  • To carry out any other tasks or instructions given by the line manager.

 

Resources managed (staff and expenditure):

  • Monitors work done by outside contractors for adherence to FCO Requirements and reports back to line manager/ TWS.
  •  Work safely and cooperatively with co-workers and the public.
  • Lead a work party in performing maintenance or repair work.
  • To liaise with other staff and contractors as necessary to ensure the timely completion of works within agreed contract.
  • Electrical Craft Certificate
  • At least 5 years previous installation/maintenance experience to BS7671:2008
  • Fluent in English and Arhamic
  • Experience in Multi-trade organisation
  • Current full driving licence.
