Housekeeper

The British Embassy in Rabat is looking for a dynamic team player to take up the position of Residence Housekeeper, Grade S3.

Main Purpose of Job:

The housekeeper is responsible for maintenance of the Ambassador’s Residence, transit accommodation and supporting the organisation of social events. He/she is a representative of the Embassy – and the UK – by ensuring that every guest at the Residence is welcomed and provided with an outstanding level of service. The Residence housekeeper must have initiative, good interpersonal skills, be flexible and discreet.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Transit accommodation

  • Ensure the Transit accommodation is clean, tidy and presentable at all times including external facilities: garage, garden, basement etc.
  • Report to the Residence Manager maintenance requirements.

Residence

  • Laundry and ironing of the family and Residence linen, including bed linen, table cloths, pool towels, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining clean and tidy external facilities in the Residence: garden/terrace furniture, barbecue, garage, storeroom, swimming pool area, basement etc…
  • Maintain a cleaning schedule of dusting, polishing, mopping, floor care, window cleaning, changing of bed linen, taking care of houseplants and general household tidiness and organisation depending on operational need.

Business and Hospitality

  • Supervise and direct waiters at events when required.
  • Preparation and set up for events: Cleaning the silver, polishing the glassware and China, laying the dining table, clearing away after the service, washing up and putting away all the items used.
  • Meet guests who arrive late and attend to their requests. Prepare breakfast in the morning when requested by the Residence Manager.
  • Help colleagues during events at the Residence: by helping in the kitchen the Residence Chef or serving guests. Support other members of staff with different tasks as required.

Others

  • Be flexible to work in the evenings and as required.
  • Be flexible to spend the night at the Residence and as required.
  • Cover for the other Residence housekeepers.

The above list is not exhaustive and the jobholder will be required to be flexible and take on other ad hoc tasks as required. The job description may be reviewed to meet changes in business needs.

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: gross salary of MAD 6,152 per month, inclusive of all allowances. The contract will be for a full-time employment, on a permanent basis.

The Embassy has a strong commitment to learning and development and all staff are required to agree a learning and development plan with their line manager.

The successful candidate will need to show flexibility in the starting time and finishing time depending on operational needs and will be required to work 44 hours a week.
