The British Embassy in Dublin is part of a world-wide network, representing UK political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit an Assistant to the HMRC Fiscal Crime Liaison Officer, who will provide operational liaison with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and other UK enforcement agencies as required by the Fiscal Crime Liaison Officer (FCLO). Will also provide Operational liaison with Irish fiscal authorities and other Irish law enforcement agencies.

Main Duties and Responsabilities:

  • The primary aspect of this role is to share intelligence between HMRC (UK) and relevant Irish Law Enforcement Agencies;
  • Achieving and maintaining a high level of competence in legal matters;
  • Supporting the FCLO and UK visitors in all matters concerning HMRC operations;
  • Preparing intelligence reports for HMRC and drafting letters for host agencies;
  • Inputting data to maintain records of intelligence sharing;
  • Maintaining office records;
  • Dealing with the office budget and statistics;
  • Conducting other daily administrative duties as directed by the FCLO;
  • Contributing to the achievement of HMRC and British Embassy objectives;
  • Contribute to wider HM Government objectives through supporting Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) priorities.
  • Good standard of spoken and written English;
  • Excellent drafting skills;
  • Sound numeracy skills with good attention to detail;
  • Ability to liaise with HMRC desk officers, UK investigating officers & Irish law enforcement agencies;
  • High degree of self-motivation with excellent interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism and discretion;
  • Must be able to prioritise work and have good organisational skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure, often unsupervised;
  • Ability to take responsibility for own work and to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to accurately analyse information and to identify relevant issues;
  • Good computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and Excel;
  • A current driving license.
  • A working knowledge of the application of criminal law in the UK, through previous experience of working in a Law Enforcement environment;
  • Knowledge of intelligence sharing and investigation;
  • Some flexibility in terms of hours of attendance. Ability to travel and attendance at appropriate official functions.

This is a full-time position, initially on a 2 years fixed-term contract, 41 hours gross per week, with the possibility of renewal beyond this term.

The contract will be subject to a 6 months probation period.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Ireland are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Irish employment law.
