Main purpose of job:

Manage all digital communications of the UK in South Africa: The Digital Communication Officer is responsible for ensuring that the Post website and other agreed digital platforms are central to delivery of the mission’s goals and objectives through digital campaigns and activities. Creation of digital content including videography and editing, photography, and some graphic design.  


Roles and responsibilities:

  • Manage the UKinSouthAfrica online channels including website and social media.
  • Design and create digital content that is engaging, up-to-date and relevant and supports the objectives, brand and values of the mission
  • Establish and maintain systems to report and evaluate the impact of digital activity and campaigns.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with colleagues at all levels across the UK in South Africa network who provide online content, with external partners and with central departments who maintain the central content management system and templates
  • Act as official   photographer and record videos during events, visits and as required for use on online channels
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of UKinSouthAfrica-wide public diplomacy projects and advise colleagues on the best use of online communications.
  • Keep up to date with current digital trends and developments and ensure we remain forward-looking in our use of digital media.

     
  • Experience in managing social media networks for an organisation (Flickr, Youtube, Twitter, Facebook)
  • Experience of measuring the impact of digital campaigns
  • Experience of creating digital graphics e.g. Photoshop skills
  • Videography and editing experience
  • Photography experience
  • Experience running digital campaigns using the OASIS model
  • Strong writing/editing experience, able to identify stories and write for the web
  • Web design skills, including HTML and CSS
  • Experience managing an organisational Website
