The British Consulate-General Ekaterinburg is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Prosperity, Communications and Visits Officer

The selected candidate will provide support to the Consul General on the Prosperity agenda as well as supporting Post’s outreach and engagement objectives through social media, projects, events and regional visits.   

Roles and responsibilities

  • Support Consul General on the Prosperity agenda by working on initiatives to encourage economic reform and sustainable growth – identify and manage related projects as well as providing concise and timely reports on economic developments in the Consular district.
  • Support Post’s external communications by growing its social media presence. Plan and execute campaigns to ensure Post’s activities are visible across the Consular district.

  • Support Post’s outreach activities by planning and arranging regional visits (within the Consular district) for the Consul General and the Deputy CG.

  • Lead on Post’s bid (for funding) and planning of activities to mark its 25th anniversary in 2020. Lead on efforts to attract sponsorship for the related programme of events.

  • Administer Enabling Fund projects and outreach events as directed.

  • Act as Post’s point of contact with British Cultural Section regarding their activities in the Consular district and also as Post’s Chevening lead.

  • Provide Russian-English interpretation as needed

  • Provide back-up for the Corporate Services/Consular Officer

  • Strong organisational
  • Problem solving and communication skills
  • Previous of experience of working in a fast paced environment
  • Track record of taking responsibility and showing initiative.
  • Fluency in Russian and English
Experience of successfully growing an organisation’s social media presence.

This is a new full-time permanent position with 5 working days, 35 hours net per week within standard office hours, requiring some travelling from time to time and some evening events.

The monthly salary for this position is Rub 76,613, A2(L) level, paid 13 times a year.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
