Main purpose of job:

 

Lead digital diplomacy for the HMG India network.  Drive an engaging, high-quality digital communications strategy  across our channels that supports the UK’s objectives in India.  Plan and evaluate digital campaigns.  Enable colleagues and continually drive up skills and standards across the network.  Your job is to create world-beating digital comms.

Roles and responsibilities 

Managing two A2 officers and working with colleagues from across the British High Commission network’s 8 offices India, we are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic digital communications professional who will drive HMG’s digital diplomacy in India, including:

Channels: Managing UK in India’s digital footprint, ensuring that our channels have bright, innovative and targeted content that supports our network campaigns, priorities and services.  Each channel’s strength and profile used to target specific audiences.  Increase follower numbers and engagement with target audiences, including through social advertising and working with partners.

Content:  Develop, oversee and contribute to the delivery of an insight-driven digital content strategy. Driving-up the quality and volume of digital content by using the latest technology and trends, working with and upskilling/enabling colleagues across the network to produce ever-more creative and engaging output.  Create a publishing schedule and work with partners to deliver the most engaging content.  Oversee design (i.e Facebook Timeline cover, profile pics, thumbnails, ads, landing pages, Twitter profile, blogs etc);

Audiences and evaluation: Constantly improve the effectiveness of our communications by better targeting our products to Indian audiences and incorporating lessons learned from continuous evaluation.  You will measure and analyse continuously to establish and gauge return on investment.  Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach effort.  Provide reports on the latest digital developments, which requires monitoring online space and understanding the audience and trends.

Enabling: Ensuring that communications officers outside the digital team and colleagues across the network continually improve their skills and delivery their objectives through digital.  Provide training and other materials (e.g. how-to guides, lists of those to follow, tips on engagement etc) to improve performance.

External: Build contacts and partnerships with external stakeholders (social media organizations, news portals, major influencers) who can help deliver our objectives

  • Education: Degree level
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in a media/digital media environment
  • Experience in Digital production skills; Leading social media strategies; managing people

For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Local Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.

 

For other than BHC candidates, salary will be INR 80,924 per month together with a 12% provident fund and 6% Superannuation Fund/ Special Allowance.

IMPORTANT: 

The job holder will be required to work irregular hours, including short-notice travel across India, occasional evenings and weekends to manage events and oversee campaigns.  No overtime is offered, but TOIL can be negotiated.
