CSSF (Conflict, Stability and Security Fund)

This is an exciting and challenging role supporting the UK’s efforts on security, stability and the peace process across Myanmar, including through the Conflict, Stability and Security Fund (CSSF). CSSF is a UK government funding mechanism to fund projects in the peace and security area, in a flexible and innovative manner. This is a cross-departmental role, funded by the CSSF until at least March 2020, whose primary role is to support the delivery of the British government’s programme work on security, peace and/or Rakhine.  We are looking for a candidate who can understand the peace and security situation in Myanmar and use this understanding to advise on programme work.

 

Analysis and advice on security and peace in Myanmar

Working across the British Embassy and with colleagues in London to provide advice on security and peace in Myanmar, in support of the CSSF programme and projects, specifically to:

  • Provide expert political/conflict analysis on complex peace and security issues in Myanmar
  • Utilise this analysis to form recommendations on programme/funding on security and peace issues
  • Closely advise the First Secretary and other senior members of the Embassy and London policy teams on peace and security issues, feeding into the development of British government policy on these areas
  • Lead Embassy and internal stakeholder meetings, setting the agenda and reporting information at the appropriate level
  • Build a strong network of contacts on peace and security issues, arranging and participating in meetings with key international and local actors
  • Making a corporate contribution to the Embassy, such as by supporting activities to maintain staff morale
  • Strong political analysis skills
  • An ability to build a proactive and independent network of contact on peace and security issues in Myanmar
  • Ability to provide advice through written analysis, reports and advice on programme and funding decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Personal drive, self-starter
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Strong English language skills, both written and spoken
  • Myanmar language skills
  • Experience working on peace and security issues in Myanmar
  • Experience of programme and project management
  • Experience of working in an international/multi-cultural organisation
