The UK Department for International Trade (DIT) champions free trade by assisting UK-based companies sell their products and services overseas, by supporting overseas companies in setting  up or expanding their business operations and investments in the UK, and by delivering a new trade policy framework for the UK as we leave the EU.

Based at the British Consulate-General in Hong Kong, the Inward Investment Support Officer will support the DIT team’s Inward Investment work with secretarial and administrative tasks, desk research and event support.

Roles and responsibilities:

1)    General administrative and secretarial support to senior members of the team, including diary management, arranging appointments and travel, filing and information management

2)    Data-base management and project support for inward investment projects

3)    Market research to identify opportunities to promote British trade and investment, primarily through media monitoring

4)    Support the marketing team in the delivery of events and visits, including administrative and logistics support

5)    Support in other ad-hoc duties and projects and events with the various other Consulate departments, where needed

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent in English
  • A good understanding of international trade and investment
  • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with business environment in the UK, Hong Kong and China
  • Business degree
  • Some work experience in a commercial setting
  • Fluent in Cantonese/Mandarin
