Main purpose of job:

In conjunction with the Director of Corporate Services, ensure that all resources (both human and financial) are effectively managed to meet the needs of the Mission

Main Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

Lead on Finance and HR policy and operations to foster a joined up approach to large cross-cutting issues

  • Responsibility for big ticket issues including Financial Planning, Terms and Conditions for Local Staff, and taking forward a new Local Staff Pension scheme
  • Leading on business cases and financial modelling for financial and staff resource cases to London
  • Provide policy and financial advice to BHC Senior Management and Boards including the Post Operations Board
  • Lead on policy and modelling on performance pay
  • End-to-end delivery of financial planning and forecasting processes, including communications, timetables, data requirements and modelling
  • Lead on recruitment policy and workforce planning
  • Build strong relationships with Finance and HR Business Partners, BHC Team Leaders and Regions to ensure policy requirements are met and translate business assumptions into financial data, including capital implications
  • Providing expert advice and mentoring to other Posts in the region
  • Line Management of the Finance and HR Teams

●      Registered Certified Public Accountant

●      At least 5 years’ experience in a large organisation

●      Advanced Excel

Leave:

Members of staff are entitled to paid annual leave, which is earned, from the day they commence employment. Entitlements are as follows:

  • Grades C4 (L) 30 days 

In addition to annual leave, the BHC normally observes no fewer than 9 and no more than 14 Kenyan and British public and religious holidays in a year. These vary from year to year and are at the discretion of the High Commissioner. A list of holidays is published each year.

Working Patterns:

The working hours can be carried out flexibly to suit child-care or other obligations. Some home/remote working is possible as agreed with the line manager but much of this role is office based given the staff management responsibilities.
