The British Embassy in Paris is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. It is also part of the UK’s France Network (including offices in Lyon, Bordeaux and Marseille and representation to international organisations in Paris (OECD and UNESCO) and Strasbourg (CoE)) and is now looking to recruit an Intern for Public Diplomacy department.


The intern will join the Public Diplomacy team, within a Politics, Engagement and Public Affairs department at the Embassy, which manages the Embassy’s relations with the public, the media and political contacts.


Roles and responsibilities


Lead on particular tasks related to the Embassy’s “Les Voisins” communications campaign and the “Think Club”, the France Network’s online debate device.


Support the Public Diplomacy team with the coordination and conception of online com campaigns, as well as the organisation of events at the Embassy (including managing guest lists, external suppliers and invoicing, or logistics)


Support in delivering the Embassy programme funds activities and with other administrative and corporate tasks as necessary.


  • Full professional proficiency in English and French, including excellent writing skills* (C1 Level)- assessed at interview (Intern will work in both languages);
  • Communication and Events management experience or qualification;
  • Very good knowledge of social media use;
  • Familiarity with Outlook and Excel;
  • Ability to work well in a team or individually;
  • Attention to details and good organisational skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

  • Editing skills is a plus.

This is a full-time and temporary internship position of up to 6 months starting in September 2021.

At the beginning of your internship you should be able to provide us with a convention de stage provided by your university/higher education establishment and liability Insurance to cover your period of internship at the British Embassy.

All appointments are subject to professional background check satisfactory security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to provide a copy of his/her passport or national identity card for all nationalities held, an up-to-date criminal record (casier judiciaire) for recent countries of residence (which can be obtained online at https://www.cjn.justice.gouv.fr/cjn/b3/eje20 ), two written proofs of address (utility invoices and/or bank statements) and two references.
