The British High Commission in Bandar Seri Begawan is recruiting the position of Corporate Services Assistant. We are looking for a person with strong administrative skills, who wants to be at the heart of daily operations at the British High Commission.  


The main purpose of this job will be to provide IT support across the Mission, and to assist in the administrative, procurement and protocol related tasks of the Corporate Services Team. Core duties will include maintaining the IT infrastructure, sending and receiving Diplomatic Bags, working with our internal administration system in the procurement process, and a point of contact for suppliers. 


The jobholder will also provide resilience for the wider Corporate Services Team in security and health and safety matters, and contribute to the One Team agenda, promoting Learning & Development and Wellness initiatives.


This is advertised as a part-time position (20 hours per week), working hours are 8:00am - 12:00pm. Starting salary from B$880 per month depending on experience and qualifications. 


Main purpose of job:

To facilitate smooth day to day running of the Mission’s Corporate Services function with a focus on IT and telephony, and administration. Assist in the team’s wider functions in times of resilience.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

IT & Information Management

  • Oversee works to maintain and repair IT & Telephony infrastructure.
  • Help users become self-sufficient in IT by sharing and promoting best practices.

Administration / Protocol

  • Organisation of appropriate documentation for assurance and audit checks.
  • In charge of receiving and sending Diplomatic Bags for the mission.
  • Communicating with suppliers and arranging schedules of work.

Procurement

  • Assisting in the procurement process including requisitions, receipting and uploading invoices, setting up suppliers.

Estates / Health & Safety / Security

  • Work with the team to administer property compliance among the estate
  • Proficient level of IT knowledge, basic networking.
  • Understanding of Procurement process and budget principles
  • Good English communication skills (oral/written)

  • Experience of property management / H&S / Security
  • Proficiency in Malay language is desirable
