Security

Main purpose of job:

To carry out a range of Guards duties including checking vehicles and people entering and leaving the Embassy compound

To follow orders of Corporals / Sergeants /APSM/PSM  and  /ROSM /Provide security on a 24-hour shift basis

 

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

 

  • Checking that persons entering the compound have a pass or authority to do so. Searching persons (Including using scanners).
  • Operating Main / Centre & Rear Gate to allow pedestrian and cars access to and from compound.
  • To check that no goods are taken out of the compound unless written permission from UK member of staff or authorized staff has been received.
  • To stay alert on all Guard post and premises during day and night duty.
  • To learn by heart the correct procedure of response to Bomb, Fire and Incident emergencies.
  • Always to be punctual, neat, motivated and smart team player.
  • To beware that professional guards manoeuvre under strict discipline and chain of command.
  • At least high school graduate.
  • Experience in the security and related field with a proven track record of delivering a quality service
  • Be open to change and actively seek ways to improve the service of the security section.
  • Attention to details and good follow up discipline.
  • Ability to work quickly and reliably with little supervision to meet targets with clear and effective decision making skills.
  • Be an excellent team player and to contribute and support wider Embassy objectives.
  • Good level of both Amharic and English (Written and Spoken)
  • First aid and basic computer skill is an added advantage.
  • Basic computer skills (word, excel, outlook, etc.)

A full induction training package will be undertaken by the successful candidate.

Working patterns:

  • Shift working hours are 42 hrs per week.
  • Day and Night
