The role-holder will form part of the existing DIT team and work in collaboration with other DIT colleagues across the CEE region and in the UK. He/she will report to the Trade Director and line manage one member of the team (Intern).

The role will require occasional travel within Bulgaria, to the UK and within DIT Europe Region.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Develop and manage strategic campaigns based on specific market opportunities in selected sectors, engage UK companies on these opportunities and ultimately support them to win business in Bulgaria
  • Collaborate effectively with DIT colleagues across the CEE region and in the UK on regional strategic campaigns and trade promotion events
  • Develop high-level contacts with key stakeholders in relevant Government institutions, trade associations and the business community, both in Bulgaria and the UK
  • Help to resolve barriers to business and market access issues for specific UK companies, and to support engagement with local business stakeholders on policies and rules for doing business with the UK
  • Develop and manage visit programmes for UK trade delegations and individual companies; facilitate meetings with key stakeholders and players
  • Work across the Embassy teams to develop and deliver internal projects and campaigns

Our GREAT candidate has:

  • A strong knowledge of the business environment in Bulgaria and understanding of the UK business environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain contacts in both the public and private sectors
  • Positive, proactive attitude and ability to work in team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, in Bulgarian and English (minimum C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*)
  • University graduate, preferably in business, management or marketing
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office

It may be a plus if you have:

  • Experience in trade promotion and business development
  • Good organisational/presentation skills
