Main purpose of job:


You will be responsible for both the implementation and administration of a number of Migration and Returns Fund projects, ensuring project activity leads to positive outcomes in country and delivers on UK objectives and value for money. You will work in close co-ordination with the Migration Delivery Officer (MDO) to manage and deliver projects in support of activities that deter and/or tackle irregular migration.


This role is suited to a self-starter, who is able to work flexibly and prioritise workloads in order to achieve project outcomes in a busy and challenging environment.

 

Roles and responsibilities

 

You will be expected to deliver a number of separate but co-ordinated migration projects, ensuring agreed outcomes are delivered in accordance with UK Government financial and project management principals and guidelines. Will be expected to ensure that project activities and outputs are delivered in line with agreed activity based budgets, that project delivery is effectively monitored, risks are adequately captured and mitigated, and that project activities represent value for money. You will be expected to report regularly to colleagues within the Embassy and to Home Office and FCO officials in London on impact of the projects and performance.

 

  • Leading the design, implementation and review of reintegration and livelihood projects;
  • Preparation of various written outputs, e.g. draft briefing documents, reports and inputs to reintegration materials, review of relevant documents;
  • Identifying problems and proposing corrective actions;
  • Working with implementing agencies, to ensure accurate budgeting, spend, risk management, and monitoring strategies are in place;
  • Liaising with implementers, CSSF and Home Office teams to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, ensuring payments are made on time;
  • Aid the delivery of outreach and communication strategies;
  • Establish and maintain contacts with partners such as the local Ministries, local non-government organizations, Jamaican High Commission and UK Home and Foreign Office teams to facilitate collaboration and useful exchange of information to aid the returns process;
  • Accurate record keeping and knowledge management: translating lessons learned into knowledge for support work and planning of future projects;
  • Responsible for dealing with project-related queries from implementers and for facilitating ad hoc requests for migration information;
  • Actively participate in meetings, forums and provision of cover for the MDO during absences.

                      Essential on arrival: 

                      • At least three years of Project Management experience (qualification preferred).
                      • Strong budgeting and administration skills.
                      • Proven ability to build effective relationships and excellent verbal communication skills.
                      • A high level of written and spoken English with the ability to write high quality reports and briefings.
                      • Strong organisational and time management skill.
                      • An ability to work under pressure, prioritize with minimal supervision is essential.
                      • Very good IT skills, particularly use of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

                       


                      Desirable:

                      • Working knowledge of entrepreneurship projects would be an asset.
                      • University Degree
                      • Previous experience of working in an international organization and on Migration matters would be an asset.
