View Vacancy - Political Attaché: Foreign Policy, Internal Politics and Public Affairs (SWE296)
The British Embassy in Stockholm is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Political Attaché - Foreign Policy, Internal Politics and Public Affairs to the Embassy’s Political Section.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
There are two vacancies which will between them:
- Work alongside other members of the political team to help deliver UK objectives in Sweden on foreign and security policy. Issues covered will include the UN, Development, Women, Peace and Security, Africa and the Western Balkans;
- Follow, analyze and advise on Swedish domestic politics and its implications for the UK;
- Plan and deliver the Embassy's strategic communications, with a focus on digital and social media.
Both positions will involve:
- Running events and visits related to their subject areas;
- Providing cover for other members of the political team.
- Knowledge in using Microsoft Office suite;
- The Embassy operates in English and fluency is essential. Native level fluency in Swedish is not essential though the jobholder will need to be able to confidently engage in Swedish and follow media reporting, Swedish language seminars, etc.;
- Good understanding of international affairs and Swedish politics;
- Good research and analysis skills;
- One role will require experise in using digital, social media tools and experience in delivering wider objectives through strategic communication.
- Academic qualification in International Affairs;
- Experience of Government, Embassy or NGO work.
This is a fixed-term position for maternity / paternity leave cover with a maximum duration of 12 months.
